Some schools in the coast do not even start classes
Yesterday, Ecuador officially started the school year in the coast region, however some schools in the city of Guayaquil has not begun its classes, and continue in the process of registration and relocation. Other buildings located in cantons and rural areas are occupied as shelters or are still flooded because of the rains.
For example, in the land that was donated by the Foundation Mission Alliance will be implemented one of the three new camps, which will open this year and will be located in the Northwest of the city serve the people living in established settlements, announced the Undersecretary of Education.
“The delay is because every new camp has a time for an extension to be able to do research, census, and designate teachers and managers”, said Gisella Burgos, Director of the camp which will have from initial education to the tenth grade, she also pointed out that the classes will begin approximately in the first days of June, and to recover the lost hours they will work with students until Saturday.
In this camp so far 1,500 students have been enrolled, however the capacity of the educational center is 1,100 between morning and evening sessions.
Furthermore, the Director indicated in relation to the other two mobile schools to be implemented in Bastion, so far are in the same situation.
