Sovereigntist alternative query would be a legal fraud according to Spanish Minister
Spanish Justice Minister Rafael Catala said today that the performing of a sovereigntist referendum, alternative to the suspended by the Constitutional Court (TC), would be a “fraud.”
Speaking to the press, Catala recalled that the TC suspended the law of consultation and the decree of convocation of the referendum convened by the Generalitat on November 9 (9N), while it resolves the grievance of the Government of Spain against both standards.
Catala added that the central executive studies the actions being carried out by the Generalitat as the instructions to schools, city councils and officials before the 9N to verify if this is a legal fraud.
“If we see that there is material we will once again submit a challenge against these factual situations,” announced the Minister of justice.
The Minister said that the alternative query would be held without warranties because there is no census, no control of the counting and the polls would be open several days, which “is illegal and severely undemocratic.”
