Suicide in Mercosur Summit Affected Participants
A young Argentinian official committed suicide amid the Mercosur Summit. The event shocked the conference attended by presidents such as Cristina Kirchner from Argentina; Dilma Rouseff from Brazil; Fernando Lugo, Paraguay; Jose Mujica of Uruguay; Hugo Chavez, Venezuela and Rafael Correa, Ecuador.
Ivan Heyn, the sub secretary of Commerce from Argentina, killed himself in the Radisson hotel room were many presidents and its officials were staying. When president Kirchner was informed of Heyn’s suicide she had to be attended by her doctor due to a nervous breakdown. Afterwards she abandoned the summit immediately.
Heyn was an economist of 33 years old and manager of La Campora, a Peronism juvenile group that started to grow in the administration of Kirchner. (AV)
