SUMA leader, Mauricio Rodas
The appeal made by the movement of Mauricio Rodas, Sociedad Unida Mas Accion (SUMA), was accepted by the Electoral Contentious Court (TCE for its Spanish acronym), thus allowing the movement to participate in elections of February 2013.
“The TCE has just notified the sentence,” said Rodas said after the court canceled the decision made by the National Electoral Council (CNE for its Spanish acronym), of not registering the SUMA movement.
SUMA was out of the elections according to the CNE because it failed the signature verification process with 1,319 missing signatures for the completiton of the 157,000 required for political groups’ registration. (MZ)
