Posted On 14 Jul 2014
The Minister of Non-Renewable Resources Pedro Merizalde, said yesterday that the release and sale of fuel will be normal in the country, even though the Esmeraldas refinery is in a temporary shutdown for maintenance.
Merizalde added that Petroecuador runs an import and delivery schedule in the Santa Elena peninsula and Shushufindi, respectively, in order to meet the demand.
The maintenance works are being performed since Saturday in the unities No 1 Catalytic and Catalytic Fluid Cracking, which produce cooking gas and high octane gasoline.
These are part of a total of 13 projects aimed to enhance the capacity of facilities and achieve a throughput of up to 110,000 barrels of oil a day.
