Syria Agrees to UN Observers Guidelines
Posted On 19 Apr 2012
Today Syria and the United Nations have signed a deal that allows international observers to monitor the nation’s shaky ceasefire between government forces and opposition fighters.
This Thursday Arab and Western ministers met in Paris to increase pressure on Damascus, while the violence continues to rage across Syria. Activists reported the death of at least nine people.
Ahmad Fawzi, Kofi Annan spokesman said, “This agreements outlines the functions of the observers as they fulfill their mandate in Syria and the tasks and responsibilities of the Syrian government in this regard.” (AV)
