Tariffs affects stores and importers of technological equipments
Sales stores and importers of technological equipments and their parts and pieces already feel the impact of tariff changes that govern since last week. This is because the Committee of Foreign Trade (Comex) raised the tariffs on goods that are importedby 588 subheadings, including computers, printers, CD´s, that now must pay between 5% and 25% to enter the country.
As justification, in the resolution it is stated that the subheadings cause an outflow of foreign exchange, which could turn into investment for the Ecuadorian economy.
According to Gabriela Uquillas, customs advisor of the Chamber of Commerce of Guayaquil (CCG), 531 of the 588 subheadings passed from a tariff rate 0 to 5%. “The computer is a necessary good and suddenly the government raises the tariffs, it does not make much sense,” she analyzed.
