Taxi drivers are concerned over the deadline for taximeter installation

Just two days remain before the deadline expires for taxi drivers of the country to install proper taximeters, and we can already witness huge lines outside of the different companies that supply this device.

Several taxi drivers polled say the biggest concern surrounding the use of the device’s configuration is the fee. ”These rates are from twelve years ago. There are races that now cost about three dollars, with this rate the same races will not go up to two,” said Emilio Yong, driver.

The Transit Commission of Ecuador said days ago that this is the last extension, which means that from next Thursday whoever does not have the taximeter, shall be fined.

Using taximeters in Ecuador will be mandatory.
