The Ambulance that Carried John F. Kennedy was Sold
Posted On 25 Jan 2011
The 1963 Pontiac Bonneville ambulance said to have carried President John F. Kennedy’s body after his assassination was sold at the Barrett-Jackson Auction Co. sale in Scottsdale, Arizina, for $132,000.
It is an impressive figure, especially considering the doubts raised by some automotive historians about the car’s authenticity prior to the sale. Some experts said the actual ambulance that carried Kennedy was destroyed in the mid-1980s.
The ambulance fared better than another Kennedy-related vehicle that went up for sale recently. Last summer a Checker Marathon taxi believed to have been a getaway vehicle for Lee Harvey Oswald after the JFK assassination was sold for $35,750.
