The banana farmers agree to lower the price of the box
Ecuadornews:
There is a reason the banana sector argues for reducing the price of the fruit box to six cents: markets are complicated, and Ecuador must protect its competitiveness.
The Banana Exporters Association (AEBE) announced yesterday an agreement with producers, exporters and the government to lower the box to $ 6.20, a key factor for companies that depend on the main of non-oil wealth source.
The guild noted that there are ups and downs, however, “the agreed price allows producers have profit margins and helps in the seasons in which the fruit price drops to less than $ 4.”
The decision modifies the plans of the companies that supply plastics, cardboard, air-fumigators, irrigation services, transportation, as they are the main suppliers of the farms dedicated to this business. (I)
