The cell is worse than the rain

Technology in certain circumstances, is often fatal distraction. For example, when you’re behind the wheel. The use of cell phones, video screens, GPS and switch on the radio or change station cause the greatest number of traffic accidents in the country.

According to statistics from January 2015 and 2016, this distracting factor has become one of the leading causes of death on the roads. The figures rise significantly this year.

Although not established resource major distraction, cell stands as one of the main objects, according to the National Traffic Agency, the Transit Commission and the Municipal Transit Authority (ATM).

The chat or answer the phone diverts concentration. “It is assumed that technology helps us, but not to mix with driving because it distracts the driver,” says Enrique Varas, head of the ATM Agents.

Systems specialist, Mario Castro, agrees with Varas and accurate check email while behind the wheel could be the most dangerous action by time and concentration required.

“It takes at least two minutes to read and respond in this way (mail), while two seconds to send a short message on WhatsApp” he explains (I).
