Yesterday afternoon, the Metrovía Foundation rejected the delayed arrival of the articulated vehicles for the Trunk 2 (Av. 25 de Julio- Rio Duale) because mostly remains in the temporary storage Boadpuyango of Huaquillas, El Oro Province, from the National Service Customs of Ecuador (Senae for its Spanish acronym).
To start with 50% of the trunk 45 articulated vehicles were needes, in other words, half the fleet.
The Foundation proceeded to require the consortium the legal compliance of its obligations.
Following a meeting between the President of the Foundation Metrovía, Frederick von Buchwald, general manager Leopoldo Falquez, and the mayor of Guayaquil, Jaime Nebot, an statement was issued which said that the requirement is a previous step for the termination of the contract with the carriers, and that can only be avoided if the buses start arriving immediately in the amount necessary to meet the schedule.
Most buses remain in Customs waiting to complete the due process , as carriers of Metroexpress requested the Senae payment facilities to pay in fees the Value Added Tax (VAT) that was not foreseen in the budget, as stated last week by César Carranza, president of the consortium.
