The country is getting ready to participate in the Fitur 2018

The policy promoted by the Government in tourism is a strong promotion in major international events of the destinations offered by the country. In this line, between January 17 and 21, Ecuador will participate in the International Tourism Fair (Fitur) 2018 to be held in Madrid, Spain, and will have the presence of important entrepreneurs in the field worldwide.

In the 2017 edition of the Fitur there were 9,893 exhibiting companies from 165 countries; 135,838 professional participants and 109,134 visitors; which represents a growth of 18.8% of international professional visitors compared to the previous edition.

Ecuador is expected to present the news of the destination, especially will emphasize one of its flagship products: Ecuadorian chocolate, recognized as one of the best in the world, appreciated for its flavors and aromas. Quito will have an outstanding participation in the international fair, and will seek to position the city as a destination that has natural, heritage, gastronomic and cultural attractions that make it unique.

Ana Larrañaga, director of Fitur, told newspaper EL TELÉGRAFO that the objective of the fair is to maintain contact, in person, with the actors of the international tourism industry and ample space will be given to technological developments.

“Within the framework of the Fitur “Know-How”, two spaces will be created, one dedicated to showing how virtual reality can help the tourism sector, in which the visitor can experience first-hand the experience of traveling, before the trip, with different solutions, “she reported.

The second space, Startup Area, will be dedicated to giving visibility to tourism projects in which new technologies play a fundamental role, explained Larrañaga. Another important space in the event will be for health tourism, such as specialized spas, insurance and dependency centers. (I)
