The darts point to the position of Vicuña
Ecuadornews:
The eyes of the authorities do not neglect the movements of the vice president María Alejandra Vicuña. The National Assembly and the Attorney General of the State carry out processes that point, in the case of the Legislative, to the resignation of the second executive authority.
Vicuña believes that the process is orchestrated by opponents to her management. In a radio statement she did not rule out that the campaign comes from within the Government.
The civil employee, questioned by the supposed collection of ‘tithes’ to advisors during her management as Assemblywoman, said that she will not resign nor will ask for leave without salary in spite of the requests of Assemblymen.
One of the standard-bearers of the cause is Fabricio Villamar, of CREO. He initiated the collection of signatures to initiate a political trial against Vicuña.That, despite the fact that there is no Constitutional Court that validates the action.
Villamar also charged against the vice president in the Plenary Assembly. Yesterday the legislator managed to include in the agenda the request for resignation of the official. The proposal was supported by 87 assembly members.
The discussion of the topic will begin after the debate of the budget pro forma of2019.
The Office of the Prosecutor, for its part, gathers elements for a possible request for the formulation of charges for Vicuña. Prosecutor (e) Ruth Palacios openedthe preliminary investigation on Wednesday, with the provision of half a dozeninquiries and orders.
A bank in El Oro and another in Pichincha have five days, for example, to inform the Office of the Prosecutor if the vice president and the ex-adviser who denounce it are holders of two accounts involved in the supposed collection of tithes, the description of the accounts and the transfer records.
The National Electoral Council (CNE) has the same deadline to send copies of the credentials of the elected offices in which Vicuña has been elected. Some thing similar will be fulfilled in the National Assembly.
In the fiscal impulse of Palacios (which is dated September 28 and not November28) there is no mention of the Report of Unusual Operations that was sent by the director of the Financial and Economic Analysis Unit (UAFE), Diana Salazar,in which they would confirm the transfers.
What is mentioned is a police report with the compilation of information appearingon the network about the case and the denunciation of former assemblyman AndrésPáez.
The first to give version will be Páez and the ex-collaborator Ángel Sagbay, on Monday from 09:00 in the General Prosecutor’s Office. (I)
