The Golden Globes Awards’ Highlights
The 68th edition of the Golden Globes ceremony was celebrated on Sunday and broadcasted worldwide from Los Angeles, California. The event was hosted by British comedian Ricky Gervais, who made jokes about some of the personalities in the audience, such as Charlie Sheen.
David Fincher’s Facebook based movie “The Social Network” was the biggest winner of the night, taking home Best director (David Fincher), Best Soundtrack (Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross), Original Script and Best Drama Movie awards.
Nathalie Portman was awarded the Best Drama Actress statuette by her lead role in the movie Black Swan. Colin Firth was given the Best Drama Actor award for “The King’s Speech”. Annete Bening (Los niños están bien) and Paul Giamatti (Barney’s version) won the Best Musical and comedy actress and actor awards.
Small screen series were also awarded; “Bradwalk Empire” became the best drama series. Jim Parson’s hilarious role as Sheldon Cooper in Warner comedy series “The Big Bang Theory” was awarded as Best TV Series Actor.
“Carlos”, starring Venezuelan Edgar Ramírez, was awarded as the best mini series or TV movie.
Christian Bale got the best supporting actor award for “The Fighter” and “Toy Story 3” was named the best animated movie of the Golden Globes.
“In a Better World” from Denmark, won the best foreign movie statuette.
Robert De Niro was given the Cecil B. DeMille award for his contribution to the movie industry.
