The IESS will shorten the time of medical appointments

Ecuadornews:
The Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security (IESS) will invest $ 1 billion until October 2018 to provide more infrastructure and medical equipment to its affiliates, their children, and retirees.
Of that amount, $ 300 million will be allocated for the construction of three maternal/child health and emergency centers, three exclusive centers for dialysis; A geriatric hospital in El Batán and another pediatric center (to be called ‘Pequeñiess’) in the north wing of the old airport. All these centers will be built in Quito.
However, what still continues to generate unease is the time of appointment scheduling. The call center of the institution, they said, can not solve the need of those who need attention. “I need an urologist, but I have not been able to find one available,” said Ximena Salas, a 42-year-old affiliate.
For the president of the IESS board Richard Espinosa, the problem is not the call center, but what is behind, thus, measures such as health care the whole week, both in scheduled surgery and in outpatient visits. “This way we optimize our infrastructure and also solve in a shorter time the needs of users,” Espinoza stated.
