`The Inca Trail´ will be a world heritage, according to Unesco
In the 38th conference of Unesco, which takes place in Doha (Qatar), next Sunday, Qhapac will be declared as a World Heritage Site, which is an important Andean road system extended from southern Colombia to Argentina and Chile, passing through Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia.
For Ecuador, this road is approximately 108 kilometers of the 23,000 in total, which include 49 archaeological sites, 31 communities in 22 sections and subsections. More than $ 3 million have been invested in research and conservation projects.
Last monday, the Director of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization Irina Bokova said in Bolivia that the value of this postulation is not only restricted to the road system, but to “the whole tradition, history, identities of the people and the different communities.”
