The military deployment

An operations center of the Armed Forces was installed in the Manta air base. From there, the military high command directs the logistic operations to transport military personnel, foreign and national rescuers, water, food, victuals, dead and wounded people.
About 10,000 men deployed in the provinces of Manabi and Esmeraldas also coordinate the protection, rescue and assistance of the civilian population.
The Land Forces, quartered in Guayaquil, has allocated 200 men and 50 vehicles (trucks, mules, buses and tankers) for the land transportation of assistance to the most affected areas under the coordination of government agencies, which are in charge of the cargo destination and the beneficiaries.
