The Odebrecht operation leaves 5 detainees in Ecuador

Posted On 02 Jun 2017

Ecuadornews:

This morning, during the Odebrecht operation, the Prosecutor’s Office and special police groups detained five people: one in Quito, one in Latacunga and three in Guayaquil and Daule, in the Guayas province.
Ecuador’s deputy prosecutor Thania Moreno reported that three raids were carried out in Quito, including a hotel, a company and a house where documents related to Odebrecht were found. In the raids in Guayas, five safe boxes with $ 170,000, high-value jewelry, luxury cars, a check of $ 980,000 signed by Odebrecht and weapons without permits were found. A total of 18 homes were raided.

At a press conference at the Tababela airport, Attorney General Carlos Baca Mancheno said that because some of those involved in the previous investigation have jurisdiction over the National Court of Justice, therefore, he will return to Brazil next week along with a team of prosecutors to take versions and raise more evidence.
“The evidence confirms that those detainees and their companies were part of an organized crime plot,” Baca said.
Because the case is under investigation, the authorities avoided giving details such as the names of the detainees (I).
