The renowned designer Oscar de la Renta passes away at 82

Born on July 22, 1932 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Oscar Aristides de la Renta Fiallo, born into a prominent family of the Caribbean island, studied painting at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando in Madrid, which allowed him to draw sketches for major Spanish fashion houses and be a disciple of designer Cristobal Balenciaga.
Committed to charity work, de la Renta launched his own line in 1980, after periods in Paris, working as a collaborator of the fashion house Lanvin. De la Renta was made famous by dressing Jacqueline Kennedy, among other first ladies and celebrities. His wife Annette told the New York Times about the death of her husband, who was battling cancer since 2006.
