Posted On 14 Jul 2017
Ecuadornews:
The sale of low octane gas was extended in the country until the end of 2018. The state company Petroecuador was authorized again to commercialize extra and super fuels of up to two octanes less than the INEN standard.
The Hydrocarbons Regulatory and Control Agency reported without giving further details that the decision was taken by the Undersecretariat of the Quality System of the Ministry of Industries and Productivity, “after a technical and economic analysis conducted by an inter-institutional committee.”
This allows the state company to continue selling extra gas up to 85 octanes and super gas up to 90 octanes, although these derivatives were improved in April 2012. Then, the extra went from 81 to 87 octanes, and the super rose from 90 to 92. But their sale lasted only two years. (I)
