The slice of Roger Waters
Ecuadornews:
It was the year 2007 when I saw Roger Waters, the legendary creator of the band Pink Floyd, in concert at the Morumbí stadium in Sao Paulo. Then, Waters flew an inflatable pig over the public and already practiced activism with messages against the former president of the United States George W. Bush and in favor of the Amazon.
I firmly believe that every human being has and should have an opinion and aclear position before the problems that make our world a more hostile and insecure place to live. And I believe fervently in the freedom of expression. What I do not believe in is to seek personal gain by using environmental and humanitarian causes. I would say that this is a matter for everyone, except forone detail: Without transparency, figures with great fortunes like Roger Waters could be making more money by charging for their activism in illegal schemes.
As apremonition, it sounded on the radio “Money”, precisely the weekend before the surprise arrival of Waters to Ecuador to visit the oil wellAguarico-4, in the Ecuadorian Amazon, which through the Remediation Agreementsigned with Texaco for Ecuador in 1995 it belonged to the state Petroecuador. However, the public relations campaign linked to the largest judicial fraud in history awarded this well to the oil company Chevron, which was acquired by Texa coin 2000.
The Court of The Hague has ruled on September 7 in favor of the oil company and ordered to vacate the sentence of the court of Lago Agrio that forced the oil company to compensate with 9.500 million dollars to the Ecuadorian plaintiffs represented by the American Steve Donziger, who has financed the costs of the law suit with funds from investors to whom he sold a percentage of the fraudulent sentence made in Ecuador. Documents submitted to the Court of the Southern District of New York show that Donziger has continued to commercialize the lawsuit despite the strict prohibition of the RICO Court – against the oranized crime – in 2014, and since then, of a total of 2, 4 million dollars collected, at least $ 1.5 million went to give personal accounts of Donzigerand his wife Linda Miller and were paid current expenses such as credit card, bars, wines and gym.
Not a penny to the inhabitants of the Ecuadorian Amazon.
These documents have also shown that Roger Waters is one of the investors and aims to collect the 0.076% interest in the Ecuadorian ruling. Other activists such as Rex Wayler, co-founder of Greenpeace; An Amazon Watch strategist, Kevin Koenigand Canadian activist Phil Fontaine also have economic interests in the ruling.
The sound of the cash register in the song does not leave my head since then.
Roger Waters did not travel to Ecuador to present his fabulous musical show, nor has any donation been registered to the Amazonian settlers whom he said he believed them, even though the artist’s fortune is estimated at $ 310 million dollars.
It’s apurely mediatic act followed the same pattern of the campaign carried out by the agency registered in the United States, MCSquared, whose director was a childhood friend of then acting president Rafael Correa, and who received between 2013 and 2014 at least $ 6.4 million. dollars of the Ecuadorian State,of which he was unable to justify $ 3.6 million dollars after the requirement of the United States to declare the activities of a foreign government on American soil.
Although the then Secretary of Communication, Fernando Alvarado, did not appear at the Prosecutor’s Office in October 2014 when he was called to testify due to the contract with the MCSquared agency, there is evidence of the use of public funds through the National Intelligence Secretariat ( SENAIN) and the Mexican company EMERGING GROUP in the Chevron case, which would constitute embezzlement.
The MCSquared scandal came to light because it hired several Hollywood characters and activists such as Mia Farrow, Danny Glover, Daryl Hanna, and the daughter of marine biologist Jacques Cousteau. The artists who arrived in Ecuador made the same tour that Roger Waters will now perform, with the difference that at that time, all of them passed through Carondelet and were photographed together with the former president of the Republic of Ecuador. Rafael Correa is today afugitive from justice for the kidnapping of the opponent Fernando Balda in Colombian territory.
The same day that Waters made news in Ecuador, he shared front pages with a reporton the murder of a General of the Republic, Jorge Gabela, who shocked the country considering that it would be a crime of state perpetrated during the mandate of Rafael Correa.
Regard lessof the seriousness of the political moment in Ecuador, Roger Waters announced that he wanted to be received by President Lenin Moreno to discuss the hacker Julian Assange, with outstanding debts to the British justice system and a key piece in a plan of global destabilization, to whom Ecuador gave asylum in the Embassy in London for more than five years, assuming the country the costs of its security, the respective diplomatic consequences, and even the maintenance of his cat.
Inreciprocity, the Wikileaks organization represented by the Spanish jurist Baltasar Garzón sued Ecuador for “gagging”. Nothing seems to be a coincidence. Nor the recent tour in Brazil of Waters in this election year, when two minutes before beginning the silence before the election was manifested against the finalist candidate Jair Bolsonaro during his concert in Curitiba.
That weekend the Brazilians went to vote mainly to remove from power the Workers’Party, emblem of the Sao Paulo Forum, which implemented the world’s largest scheme of corruption and money laundering through the construction company Odebrecht know that former President Lula da Silva is in prison for corruption after receiving a triplex in the health resort of Guarujá from the construction company OAS, and he must also be aware that Steve Donziger has lost, due to his illegal and unethical conduct, his licenses to practice law in the only two districts where he was qualified to practice, Washington DC and New York.
The creator of Pink Floyd came to Ecuador, not to offer his celestial rock, but to promote with the weight of his image before the world press among indigenous people of the Amazon, to make effective a judgment product of judicial fraud by which he could get to collect its juicy dividend.
