Since Friday night the programming of Televisión Satelital (TVS), channel 36Guayaquil and 25 in Quito, was interrupted to broadcast an announcement of the direction of the channel in which the television station, Ricardo Rivera, uncle of former Vice President Jorge Glas and sentenced for one of the Odebrecht cases, declares resistance after being intervened by the Superintendency of Companies, Securities and Insurance.
The announcement is transmitted with the image of the communication issued by the Superintendence and a voice-over that says: “The dictatorial and mafia government of Lenin Moreno has just intervened with Satelital Television, which constitutes an attack against freedom of expression, so that as of this moment,Televisión Satelital accepts the right to resistance, Article 98 of the Ecuadorian Constitution.”
ResolutionSCVS-INC-DNASD-2018-00868, issued on Friday by the Superintendency of Companies, states that Silvia Solano Hidalgo is declared to be an intervener.The document says that the notification was sent in a reserved manner to the directors of the channel.
A team from this newspaper went to the station this Saturday, located in Plaza Quil,on Avenida Carlos Luis Plaza Dañín. It was found that there were no director sof the channel, only a person who through a window indicated that there was no official and that the press would be taken care of tomorrow, after confirming that personnel of the Superintendency had not been present in the place.
