At 10:00 am on Monday, June 26, a new investigation was conducted at the Criminalistics Unit, in the north of Quito, due to the corruption scandal of the Odebrecht company. An external report delivered by “Cooperator C1” (a collaborator in the case) was delivered on June 9 to the Ecuadorian public prosecutor’s office, which is in reserve.

The Office of the Prosecutor has not disclosed the identity of Cooperator C1 or who are the officials who appear in the videos.

On June 16, the Brazilian magazine Veja reported that José Santos, the Odebrecht executive in Ecuador, used as evidence of the allegations in the trial against him in Brazil, videos made by him of meetings with Ecuadorian authorities.
It is not known whether Santos is “Cooperator C1” referred to by the Prosecutor’s Office, or if it is another employee of that company.

The videos and images contained in the external memory were only presented to the audience. The hearing was suspended near 14:00, and its reinstatement at 16:00. In addition, due to the reservation in the investigation, the lawyers preferred not to delve into comments. (I)
