Thousands of Venezuelans will evidence the transfer of Hugo Chavez’ body
The crowd gathered early today near the Military Academy, from which the transfer of the Commander’s coffin will begin until it reaches the headquarters of the Mountain or Revolution Museum.
The coffin will be carried in a procession from Fort Tiuna, the main military base in Caracas and where the Military Academy is located, on a 18 km long tour that should start around 10:30 local time (10:00 in Ecuador).
In the Paseo de los Proceres, adjacent to the Academy, terraces were established for venezulans to fill them from early morning.
The procession with the coffin will transit through the middle of the avenue before the terraces, as is usual with military parades in Caracas.
After the parade, the coffin will leave through the highway until it enters the popular neighborhood of 23 de enero until the Headquarters of the Mountain, where Chavez set up his command post during the failed 1992 coup against the then-President Carlos Andres Perez and where his remains will rest temporarily from now.
