U. Chile Advances to the Quarterfinals of Copa Libertadores
After being defeated 4-1 in the Ecuadorian capital, Universidad de Chile (U. Chile) soccer team was able to recover after their defeat against Deportivo Quito (Dep. Quito) by 6-0 yesterday night at the Nacional de Chile Stadium.
The team led by Jorge San Paoli, dominated the game since the first half of the game, however, Dep. Quito knew how to fend off the constant attacks from the local team.
The U. Chile needed to score at least three goals to overcome and win in Quito. Junior Fernandes was the one who opened the score points during the minute 21. Seven minutes later, again, Junior Fernandes made it 2-0 with a windy goal. At minute 35, the center midfield, Marcelo Diaz added the 3rd point for U. Chile, thus closing the first half of the match.
In the second half, Deportivo Quito moved outside their defensive positions, but the changes had no effect when in the minutes 58, Eugenio Mena scored the 4th goal, assuring the classification. But the U. Chile team was still hungry for more goals, when Henriques scored the last two goals at minute 72 and 74, sentencing the match.
With this victory, the U. Chile advanced to the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores Championship and is prepared to face the team Libertad de Paraguay.
