Three defendants on trial for money laundering

A prosecution audience is taking place since this past monday in Quito about the Pifo Gardens case which includes three people in an alleged money laundering.

 

The Prosecutor informed that 31 witnesses will be presented. According to one of the testimonies, the Pifo Gardens company would´ve realized 48 transactions in six months, through the Regional Compensation Unique System, for calcium carbonate exports to Venezuela.

 

Luis Ramiro Sánchez, prosecutor of the case, said that in 2012 Pifo Gardens exported this product, that in the local market it costed $0,12 per kilo, but they sell it to Venezuela in $1.000.
