Three tons of cocaine confiscated in an operation that involved five countries

Authorities seized 3.3 tons of cocaine and captured 21 people in an international operation involving five countries in Latin America, Colombian police said Tuesday.
Most of the drug was going to Central America and the United States, the authority said in a statement. The seizures were the result of an operation coordinated by the Colombian prosecutor’s office and the US anti-drug agency (DEA), with the support of the authorities of Colombia, Guatemala, Ecuador, Costa Rica and Panama.
In Ecuador, 767 kilos of cocaine were seized and eleven people arrested; in Colombia 856 kilos of the alkaloid were found and in Guatemala, 288 kilos were seized and three people were captured. Meanwhile, in Panamanian waters, 614 kilos were found in a speedboat, and in the seas of Costa Rica, 588 kilos were seized and seven people were arrested. (I)
