In the city of Guayaquil, and several adjacent cantons, the Catholic faithful prepare to participate in the processions on Good Friday with great enthusiasm.

Raul Sanchez, is a parishioner of Guayaquil, who attends every year to the procession of Cristo del Consuelo, one of the most popular in the city, to be able to thank Jesus for giving him good health and a stable job to provide for his family.

Maria Blacio, who integrates the Association of volunteers Mary’s Fiat for thirteen years,  thinks that Holy week is a great opportunity for Catholics to offer sincere sacrifices to Jesus.

During this week,  massive religious events were carried out prior to Good Friday.

For example, hundreds of parishioners participated in the procession of the Lord of the Buen Suceso in Riobamba. That same day in the afternoon, the traditional Bath of the Cross was performed in the Santa Elena peninsula during a procession of 4 km which began in the Emperatriz Church of the province of Santa Elena, and culminated in the beach resort of Ballenita.

On the other hand, the controls due to the holiday start from today in the country. According to the website of the Ministry of tourism, it is estimated that between today and Sunday, about 760 thousand people will move through the country in search of sites to carry out acts of demonstration of faith for Good Friday, or just to rest.
