Tires import depends on the retreading from this month

Since August 15, the purchase of tires abroad depends on the retreaded or recycled tires rate that importers annually submit. They must submit the figures with a request of registration of importers. This is indicated in the instructions posted on June 9 by the Ministry of Industries and Productivity (MIPRO for its Spanish acronym).

The purpose of this provision would keep a track of tire imports, according to the resolution.

Because of a transitional provision of the resolution, this year’s schedule shall be based on the nationalized imports between June and December.

Importers must retread or recycle the 30% of imported tires during that time. The percentage will gradually rise to reach 80% in 2018, says a statement.
