There are many Ecuadorians who come to Huaquillas, border town with Peru, whose name changes to Aguas Verdes just after walking a few meters, in order to purchase goods at lower costs.

The overflow of the Zarumilla river, about a week ago, because of the heavy rains has caused floods in both populations, for this reason many businesses have had to stop their activities.

The new tariff regulations and strict customs controls have caused a decline in sales as Ecuadorian traders buy products such as clothing, shoes, fruits and vegetables in Peru, which are distributed along the border and in other cities of Ecuador.
