Rescue workers renew their efforts in Turkey

Today Turkey was shaken by an earthquake of a 5,7 magnitude that occurred 16km south of the eastern Turkish city of Van. The city was recently recovering of the seism of 7,2 that killed over 600 people.

The Wednesday quake toppled buildings that were damaged by the earlier seism, now 18 buildings, including two hotels collapsed according the Dogan news agency.

The director of the Kandilli Observatory, Mustafa Erdik told NTV that, “It would be premature to say if it is an aftershock or an earthquake.” The natural phenomena struck at 19:23 hours (GMT) at a depth of 4,8km. (AV)
