Twitter creates warning system against disasters

The launch was yesterday and this is an alert system that could be useful for disseminating emergency information when other communication systems are down.

The social network reported that the program could serve as warning for natural disasters or in other cases where the traditional media are not available.

“We know how important it is to receive reliable information in these circumstances,” said in her blog Gabby Penna, chief product of Twitter.

Users who paid for Twitter alerts, will receive messages sent to their mobiles trough official selected accounts.
