Reality show will choose ten famous people to travel to space

The program is developed by Sony Picures Television (SPT) and is called “Milky Way Mission,” which will consist on submit ten celebrities on an astronaut training to prepare them for a suborbital trip, according to the producer.

The presentation of the program will be carried out from October 7 to October 10 at the MIPCOM show in Cannes, France.

The program will be broadcasted in 8 episodes, 1 hour each, and every week the stars will face a series of extreme physical and mental challenges to avoid being eliminated, and the final rounds will take place at the launch base in Mojave, California, reported SPT. The prize will be a ticket to space.

It is planned to initiate civil orbital travel in 2014 on board of the ship Lynx Mark II from the Californian company XCOR Aerospace.

This is a two-seater vehicle that looks like an airplane, designed to reach an altitude of 100 kilometers above the Earth’s surface, a distance that marks the boundary between the atmosphere and outer space, and return after a half hour flight to the aerodrome.
