Ukraine will receive at least 11,000 million euros from the EC
The European Commission (EC) proposed today a financial assistance for Ukraine of at least 11,000 million euros in the next two years, to contribute to improve its struggling economy and a peaceful end to the crisis in the country.
“The combined package could provide an overall support of at least 11,000 million in the next two years, from the budget of the European Union and international financial institutions based in the EU,” informed the EC President, José Manuel Barroso.
Specifically, it offers 1,600 million in loans and macro-financial assistance and 1,400 million in grants, of which 600 million will be disbursed in the next two years.
Moreover, The European Investment Bank (EIB) will add another 3,000 in the 2014-2016 period and the proposal to establish a trust fund with money from the EU budget and bilateral funds from Member States.
