UN criticizes immigration policies of various countries
On Tuesday, the United Nations (UN) reported that countries around the world manage their migration policies unilaterally, causing a lack of coherence and monitoring violations of human rights of immigrants.
On International Migrants Day, the UN issued a statement in which he states that there is ” reluctance ” to make the international body in a central forum for discussing immigration policies. Also stressed that many governments pay attention to the findings of informal global forums lacking a ” strong focus on human rights.”
“Countries continue trying to control immigration based primarily unilateral or bilateral policies, and this creates a lack of consistency between global , regional and national governances and away to UN schemes,” the body.
The United Nations called on States to consider the decriminalization of illegal immigration and the development of alternatives to detention of migrants in irregular situations within their own migration policies .
