Universidad de Chile won the South American Soccer Cup
Last night the team Universidad de Chile won 3-0 against Liga de Quito at the National Stadium of Santiago for the final of the South American Soccer Cup.
The goals came from Eduardo Vargas (minute 3 and minute 87), and midfielder Gustavo Lorenzetti (minute 79).
Both teams led the match with 10 players after the expulsion of Jorge Guagua (Liga) at minute 67 and the Argentine side Matias Rodriguez (U. de Chile) in minute 84.
With the victory of the South American Soccer Cup, the University of Chile won his first international title in history, after a perfect season of the team, led by Argentine Jorge Sanpaoli, where he won 10 of the 12 games he played.
“(…) We were trying to do the best, that was our goal when we arrived here but we did not imagine so much joy in such a short time,” said Sanpaoli through a press conference.
The Chilean team won the first leg 1-0 last week as a visitor in Quito.
