University careers of Ecuador will be evaluated
An evaluation of the careers of Ecuadorian universities will be carried out by the Accreditation Council of Evaluation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education (Ceaaces for its Spanish acronym).
The Commission of Career Assessment and Accreditation of Ceaaces developed a generic evaluation model that contains 45 indicators.
To pass the career, they must approve two elements: the learning environment and the learning outcomes, that will be measured by a national exam for seniors. “If they fail, they will leave the system,” anticipated the President of the Ceaaces, Francisco Cadena.
According to the preliminary proposal, which must be approved by the plenary of the Board, within the environment of learning, the academy, pre-professional practice and institutional environment are the parameters that have greater emphasis with 20% of the grade each. In addition, the curriculum plan (15%), students and research (10%) each and relevance (5%).
Last Friday, in Guayaquil were explained the recent changes that have been made to the specific model of the medical career, the first to be evaluated. One of the indicators in this case are the laboratories at its disposal.
