UNP supports Ecuavisa decision in defense of its Journalists
The National Union of Journalists (UNP for its Spanish acronym) yesterday, August 2, supported the position of Ecuavisa television, not to transmit on TV Government broadcastings that discredit its journalists.
Through a statement, Vicente Ordonez, President of the guild, congratulated the media “for its courageous decision” and expressed its solidarity to all press, radio and television Journalists who are mentioned in those messages ordered by the National Communications Secretariat (Secom for its Spanish acronym).
In addition, the Regulation and Development Council of Information and Communication (Cordicom for its Spanish acronym) also took stance on this issue. It requested the Secom the immediate suspension of the transmission spot ‘Citizenship speaks to the media’, which refers Journalist Alfonso Espinosa de los Monteros, from the TV networkEcuavisa.
