USA and Ecuador resume dialogue with the four-issue debate

The Ministry of Production, Foreign Trade, Investments and Fisheries (MPCEIP) received this December 4 in Quito to the delegation of the Office of the Representative of Commerce of the United States (USTR) to maintain the dialogues, within the framework of the technical tables which were created in November 2018, during the meeting of the Trade and Investment Council with the United States (TIC), by acronym in English.

The four tables that came together dealt with different themes: Agricultural Access, Investments, Labor Affairs and Commerce, and Environment and Commerce. Representatives of different State portfolios such as the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, Foreign Ministry, Ministry of Labor and the Ministry of Environment also participated in the respective tables.

During the day, the Minister of Production, Foreign Trade, Investments and Fisheries, Iván Ontaneda Berrú, stressed the importance of forming these work tables.

“We are pleased to continue making progress in strengthening trade relations between Ecuador and the United States. with which we will lay the foundations to make positive announcements for both countries in the next ICT meeting in which I will participate in January 2020 ”, said the minister who was accompanied by the ambassador of Ecuador in the US, Francisco Carrión.

Both said that these dialogues will lay the foundations for future processes of issues of bilateral interest and will allow positive announcements on new steps in the business relationship to be held at the meeting of high ICT authorities, in which the minister will participate.

The meeting of ICT authorities has been postponed to January 2020 with the aim of ensuring that the trade authorities of the two countries can be present to attend this important meeting. This meeting will be held in Quito.
