USA Foils al-Qaeda Plot to Attack Plane
The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) informed that they managed to thwart a plot by a branch of al-Qaeda in Yemen. The plan was to smuggle an experimental bomb aboard an airliner bound for the United States. Intelligence services became aware of the plan in mid-April.
The explosive device was seized in the Middle East outside Yemen just a week before it could be deployed. According to the investigation made by the CIA, the al-Qaeda leaders had dispatched a suicide bomber from Yemen with instructions to board a flight to the United States with the explosive under his cloths. However the terrorist was stopped before reaching an airport.
This does not bode well for the United States since all the signs point out that al-Qaeda members in the Arabian Peninsula remains determined to attack USA. (AV)
