Vice President Glas will be responsible for trade agreements

President, Rafael Correa, appointed, by Executive order (No. 15 since taking office for the new period) the tasks to be performed by Vice President Jorge Glas, who will have to control, monitor and supervise the work of the Strategic Sectors and Production Ministries.

Glas must carry out the announced change of the productive matrix, along with the oversight of eleven other entities, including the still existent Ministry of Foreign Trade.

The Vice President also have an additional task: “The Vice President of the Republic must take care of the coordination of all trade agreements to be negotiated by the Republic of Ecuador”, cites the decree.

Although it is not stated in the Executive order, when Glas took office, they also reported that the Vice Presidency will keep control of social programs promoted by the Government in favor of people with disabilities, like his predecessor, Lenin Moreno.
