WhatsApp is causing breakups worldwide
A study by CyberPsychology and Behaviour Journal says the text application WhatsApp has been responsible for over 28 million breakups.
This millionaire amount of breakups are due to the known “syndrome of double check,” which is misunderstood by millions of users who think that the “double check” means that the receiver has read the text message. However, the company has clarified repeatedly that the double check does not mean that.
Theses wrong interpretation constantly causes anxiety states, jealousy or suspicion. This factor is compounded by the additional information provided by this application: “last seen today at…” that shows the time and date of the last connexion of the user.
CyberPsychology and Behaviour Journal recognise that this application is “very favorable” in the first phase of a relationship, but eventually begin to reveal their negative effects , accompanied by the increase of jealousy and control.
