The farm that won the 2023 Golden Cup, which recognizes the best coffee in Ecuador, sold its lot for USD 45 per pound to an American company.

The best Arabica coffee in Ecuador is produced in Loja, Pichincha and Carchi, according to the results of the Arabic Golden Cup 2023 contest, organized by the Ecuadorian Coffee Association.
First place in the 2023 Arabic Golden Cup was obtained by producer María Del Pilar Burneo, from the La Noria farm, located in the Loja canton, in the province of the same name, with a score of 91.50.
The Golden Cup is an event in which specialty Ecuadorian coffee producers participate. An international jury analyzes the samples and gives them a score. In addition, there is an auction process for the lots.
In 2023, the seventeenth edition was completed, in which the final phase of international tasting, awards and auction took place in the United States on November 18.
At the auction, coffee from the La Noria farm reached a price of USD 45 per pound. The variety of this product is Geisha Verde and it is grown at 2,050 meters above sea level.
Second place for Pichincha
Second place in the 2023 Golden Cup went to the Cruz Loma farm, owned by the Morales Rivera family. It is located in the San José de Minas parish, in Quito, Pichincha. Coffee is grown at 1,450 meters above sea level.
The coffee variety is Geisha and the process used is washing. It achieved a score of 90.13.
Third place went to Edilberto Guevara, producer from the El Dorado farm, in the Olmedo canton, in Loja. It is 1,720 meters above sea level.
The coffee from the El Dorado farm obtained a score of 89.75 and is of the green Geisha variety.
