World War II Bomb Detonates in Munich

Last night hundreds of residents where evacuated from the center of Munich after German authorities were unable to defuse a 550 lb. WWII-era bomb that was discovered a few feet underground.
In the country there are tens of thousands unexploded munitions littering in the country. However this US Air Force bomb was unusual because it required a controlled detonation.
The explosion occurred around 10 PM (GMT), the blast crashed several windows in the area and started small fires. There were no reports of injured. AV
