Yantzaza showed his “chichas” made with several local fruits

More than 26 exhibitors Saraguros, Shuar and mestizos participated in the First Chicha Festival, held days ago in the Chicaña parish of Yantzaza canton, in Zamora Chinchipe.
In that Amazonian town, a variety of chichas were made from corn, chonta, yucca, cane, banana, rice, guava, mushrooms and other products harvested in that region.
In addition to the festival there was a space for the exhibition of agricultural products such as papayas, yucca, orange, banana, which are planted with advice from the technicians of the Agropzachin Public Company.
Alexandra Guerrero, president of the community, said that these activities promote culture, tourism, livestock and production.
For Lucía Sanchimo, winner of the chicha de guaba, the fair is a good option that provides support for producers. “It is a space to get our products and our traditional chicha,” she said.
When winning the contest she explained that her drink is prepared with water, yucca chicha and guava. So that all this is fermented it is placed in a container, until it is ready for consumption. (I)
