The National Electoral Council (CNE for its Spanish acronym) announced the list of national political groups who failed the signature verification process, ie, movements that did not meet the minimum requirement of 157,000 support signatures.
Reproved national political forces: Suma; Equipo; Participacion; Union Ecuatoriana; Poder Popular; Movimiento Municipalista; Concentracion de Fuerzas Populares (CFP); Unidos por la Democracia, Lealtad e Igualdad; Renacer; Integrador Nacional; and Libertad y Justicia.
The previously mentioned political groups did not reach legal status even before the false signatures’ analysis, for this reason they were prevented from presenting new signatures. These organizations will have a one year term to complete the missing signatures.
As for the group of presidential candidate Cesar Montufar, Concertacion (List 51), enrollment is uncertain since it reached legal status but did not complete the signatures on the second review. (MZ)
