30-S: Ecuadorian Comptroller fined 105 police members
104 policemen, involved in the police riot that occurred in Ecuador on September 30 (30-S), were notified yesterday that they must pay penalties of between 2,000 and $ 5,280 for an alleged misuse of public property. Coronel Cesar Carrion will pay $ 93,000 for damages to the Police Hospital.
The policemen were informed they will have to present their defenses before the Comptroller within thirty days. The Police Bureau of Investigation will be the responsible one to enforce the provision.
The penalty is based on a report by the Comptroller General of the State that established damages to the Police Hospital, in the Regiment of Quito and in the weapons storage area. In that report policemen were also accused of having used motorcycles, patrol cars and armored vehicles during the protest against the government.
