4G technology will offer better service in exchange of “a little bit more” money

The new 4G technology private operators (Claro and Movistar) will provide in mid-2015, after negotiations with the Government starting from next week, will represent to consumers a faster browsing, but also performing a technological change and higher rates.

This new service will allow a speed from 10 to 100 times faster than users currently have. The Minister of Telecommunications Jaime Guerrero said that the challenge for operators will be to convince their customers they will enhance the service in order to charge “a little bit more”.

Currently, there are few models compatible with 4G in Ecuador, among them are iPhone 5, Samsung S4, Sony Xperia X1 and BlackBerry Z1.

Regarding the non-existence of compatible cellphones in Ecuador, the Minister said they will manage so that the required devices could be imported.
