5,000 foreigners prefer Cuenca for its peace
Cuenca, capital of Azuay, which today celebrates its Anniversary of Foundation , has become in the last 5 years, one of the favorite destinations for foreign retirees or businessmen.
This city is attractive for its contrast between heritage and modernity, its weather and the tranquility of its citizens, its landscapes, the four rivers that surround it, as well as the security it provides.
Cuenca is mainly visited and resided by people from Europe and United States, who feel attracted by the low cost of living. Although most came to rest, there are those who built their own companies or businesses, such as restaurants and coffee shops, or stay to work in them.
Galo Cárdenas, director of the Counseling Office of Coloaustro, law firm that process residence permits, explains that many foreigners receive pensions between $800 and $1 500, what makes it difficult for them to live in the United States for its high cost of living.
